The 12U and 14U Combine/Player Evaluation will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

Practices start August 26th  and run through October 24th. Practice fields are available on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Memorial Stadium (Deering High School) in Portland. Teams will have at least one hour-long practice slot per week.

Games begin September 7th and are every Saturday through October 26th at Fitzpatrick Stadium between noon and 4 p.m. There will also be some weeknight games "under the lights" on Mondays and Thursdays at Memorial.

All games will have experienced officials. Teams will be provided jerseys and flags. There will also be at least 1 mid-week game under the lights at Memorial Stadium. We play by the Official NFL Flag Rules. Teams can expect to play some doubleheaders.

F.A.Q.

Q: Do I have to attend the Player Evaluation Event?

A: The Maine Flag Football League strongly encourages EVERY player to attend this event. MFFL strives for competitive balance on the field, and this event goes a long way towards helping us to achieve that.

Q: What if I am a coach and I would like to enter a complete team? And would my team still need to attend the Player Evaluation Event?

A: If you are a coach and would like to enter a team into our league please email MaineFlagFootballLeague@gmail.com We do our best to accommodate players from the same town, while maintaining competitive balance. Having every player attend the evaluation event helps us to achieve that.

Q: What are the age groups, and which group should the player be in?

A: Maine Flag Football currently offers 12U and 14U Divisions. This roughly corresponds to a 6th/7th grade division and an 8th/9th grade division, though we have had talented 5th graders play in past seasons. The age groups follow NFL Flag rules and are based on the players age as of August 1st of the current season. Please note, this is a change from past seasons where NFL Flag used a January 1st cutoff. If you are a player who "aged out" because of the new cutoff date, please contact us to discuss options.

Q: What if the player is younger than 10 and wants to play flag football?

A: Many towns in southern Maine offer flag football programs for grades K-5. If your town does not offer flag football, please reach out to us at MaineFlagFootballLeague@gmail.com
